[The video starts with the camera wobbling around a little before finally being set down. A blue hedgehog steps into frame, flashing the camera a casual smile like nothing's wrong. It was a totally normal day in space!]

Hey, sooo, quick question! Has anyone happened to see a helmet lying around? Y'know, like one of those helmets that comes with the BioSuit? Pretty hard to miss, actually. It's, uh... probably a little bigger than your average human-sized helmet. About this big, give or take!

[He holds his hands apart to demonstrate the size, not realizing it doesn't translate well through the screen, and it's actually not super helpful.]

I mean gotta be big enough to fit his head and leave room for the quills. So, you get the general idea, yeah? Not exactly your everyday helmet!

[He gives another breezy little smile, trying very hard to look like a guy who's definitely not panicking about losing a very important piece of space equipment.]

Anyway! If anyone's seen it, or has even the tiniest hint about where it might've wandered off to, I'd really appreciate the help. Thanks! And, uh... no rush! [He pauses for half a beat. When were they leaving the mooring again?] Okay, maybe a little rush.

[ There is a little black dragon on the screen, please do not adjust it. He's sitting on a bed in the shared cabins, his tail flicking. ]

I am Raon Miru. Yes, I am a great and mighty dragon of six years old. Many of you are surprised to see a dragon, but I am not an alien. My human has many things he wants to do here so I am looking for information.

[ Only six, but he's very smart. ]

If you have books or reading material about space, this va-cuum, or ships that travel through space, I would like them to learn from. Should you wish to only lend them to me, I will take good care of them until I can return them to you shortly. If you require compensation, I suppose I could make you a magical artifact in return. One that you can wear that will help regulate temperature even without those weird clothes on.

[ No, he isn't wearing the provided "space suits" himself. ]

I also wish to learn the languages of your native tongue. That shouldn't take me long at all. I've already learned all of the languages on the Western and Eastern Continents of my own world. The one I wish to learn the most is Korean.

That is all. [ The communication ends. ]

[ Spike is a patient guy, capable of ignoring the general insanity around him with an almost inhuman level of apathy, but he has his limits. He hit that a while back, sometime between the cave and when he found out the ship was alive and making him feel things that didn't belong to him. Faye has the right idea now and then -- wherever she's currently holing up -- when the ship is full of demons and talking animals, sometimes bailing on everyone is the right call. Today it feels like the only thing holding him back is getting his miniaturized ship to full-size so he can take his chances in the stars. Then he just has to worry about finding a cure for those headache-induing nanites, and get away from anyone else who insists on reading his mind and dredging up his past just to show him they can. It's worth a shot.

He's seated in a quiet corner of the dock with a small bag of tools he's managed to wrangle up, trying to see if he can find the right trigger to reverse whatever it was that made his perfectly-salvageable ship shrink when he first arrived. Amazingly, he finds it's still functioning at this size, and he can carefully reach the inside controls if he tries. That's when he ends up triggering a miniature plasma canon that promptly shoots out a beam that burns a hole clean through the a door into the hall, slicing perfectly through the center of one of the many helpful crab-bots scuttling around. The tiny ship itself flies from his hand and smacks into the neighboring work table. He curses and runs over to check the damage.

He's never getting off of this thing, is he? ]

...Hey. [ His voice comes in later, after he's moved away from the immobilized crab he leaves smoking in the hall. Seems like the perfect time to talk about anything else. ] I hate to be the one to point this out, but does anyone wonder what happened to the people they put back in the pods? The ones that collapsed when we got back from Digawa. All that time finding pieces of map, and you could just end up shipped off again on a spaceship's whim.

[ See, he does occasionally acknowledge the things that happen around him... and not just as a distraction from those crabs that are starting to gather to examine a carcass. He can't be the only one who thinks about this stuff. ]

Maybe they're looking for the right people... or whatever. [ Demons... animals... kids, apparently. ] They had to leave something behind. If anyone is checking storage, I've got a few things on my list.

Heads up there's a...pelican? [There's a couple of minutes of chattering which amounts to "Is that a pelican?" "Sure why not." "What else are we going to call it?" Basically that, summed up, very quietly amongst four guys who found the ship's junk drawer.] A giant pelican in the lift.

[ some shuffling noises, the sound of something being gently knocked over, then murmuring, "There we go...." ]

I think that I prefer the very large goats to the boat birds. Honestly I've never seen them quite that size, but they behave familiarly enough.

[ prone to nibbling on whatever's near, headbutts, and so on. a soft hum and then, on we go, ]

Animals aside, my actual point is twofold: 1. a test, which is to say -- is this being heard by what I gather to be...everyone else? That does seem to be how it works, but I've only ever used a contraption that lets me speak to one other known entity.

[ pause. ]

Moving on, my second point: if you haven't already discovered this much, best to avoid the maze at night.

[ no, he is not going to elaborate off the bat, thank you. he was curious and spent one terrible night with the visual affect of looking like nothing so much as a tangled miasma of shadow and water and such. one's fears are not always a singular real thing, are they.

he clears his throat. ]

On the other hand, and I suppose this makes it triple of an intention: do not avoid the pancakes at the diner. They may be my favorite thing I've eaten here so far. To say nothing of the pie and the drinks all of which are very good too.

[ and here, a sigh that pairs well with a shrug. ]

Mostly it made me realize how much I miss cooking. Though the food contraptions are...interesting.

Anyway, that more or less concludes the test. If this reaches no one, well, that's alright.

[ he definitely thinks he turned off the voice recording function, but he did not, and so,... ]

There must be some way to keep the food from the town good for longer...

[ actually he knows a way but someone told him to avoid using magic and he's been 1/4 adhering to that. kind of. (not really, and not because he was advised to.) ]

[ ooc: to be honest he doesn't really understand how much of this works still, sooooo the potential to veer into telepathy due to voice or text or whatever is all very high. aka threadjack city opportunities. autumn harvest chaos in space?! autumn harvest chaos in space. ]
