[ Fifteen minutes is a long time, and unfortunately it's long enough for Nami to circle back to the other big talking point tonight. ]

( Eventually he pads into her bedroom, offering her a smile in greeting and pulling her to bed. To cuddle or something. )

[ And she goes willingly, her arms and legs wrapping around him just as soon as they're both settled on the sheets. ]

( He pulls a blanket over them, mostly for her sake, and presses a kiss to her forehead. )

[ This conversation isn't done making her cry, and Nami is both aware of this, and hates it. With a soft huff that's a bit more teary-sounding than she would like it to be, she hides her face against his collarbone before trying to talk again. ]

You're ridiculous. I'm not having twelve kids.

( Zoro's arms are secure and protective around Nami, a hand stroking soothing circles at the small of her back. He chuckles at her words, cupping her face to make her look up and meet his eyes, noting the mistiness in her gaze. Wordlessly, he presses a firm, earnest kiss to her lips. Then another, and another, and when he stops he pulls away just enough to murmur. )

You're going to be wonderful. We'll figure it out together.

[ Apprehension ghosts across her features as he tilts her chin up to kiss her, rather than letting her hide. Nami's heart aches as her mouth finds Zoro's once, twice, and then again, and just like every time it's just right and not nearly enough. It'll never be enough. ]

I'm not saying yes until we do everything else we promised to do. [ The One Piece, the All Blue, her map, his renown. Nami's eyes sweep over his face, her words heavy on the back of her tongue - weighty enough that once she steals one more kiss she's got to turn her head and hide her face while whispering against his earlobe. ] Don't do anything stupid, and we can be each other's next big dream. [ Then, somehow even more quietly- ] Us and our very small family.

[romancedawn]

So you're going to say yes. Just not yet. ( There are so many ways to twist Nami's words; he might have, if the warmth of her body pressed against his own weren't anchoring him to truth and reason.

The overthinking can come later, but for now Zoro just hums, smiling to himself at her last words. ) Very small. ( He agrees with a nod, hand sliding down to rub circles (innocently!) on her ass. ) Just two. Built-in best friends.

[ Humming noncommittally in response, her arms slide around his neck, hugging him closer to her. ] I'm saying don't do something stupid like get turned into sashimi and you'll find out if I'm saying yes.

[ The thought of losing Zoro never came without pain and anxiety attached, even at a time when she believed her only course of action was to disappear from the crew, and from him. Talking about the future like this, now that everything is different, is only going to make that fear more vibrant and real, once they're home and risking their lives again. For Nami, the non answer that's really an answer is a form of insurance, a way to protect Zoro even though physically there's no way she could hope to make a difference in keeping him safe. ]

Two for now, and we'll see how sick of you I am afterwards.

[romancedawn]

( A playful scoff. ) I'm the one that does the... turning things into sashimi. ( The last of his words are mumbled like his failure to come up with a clever retort makes him wish he didn't even try to respond, but it tapers off into a soft laugh in the end. )

Pft. You're sick of me right now. ( He somehow gathers her more into his arms, pulling her up so their faces can be closer together. ) You're just waiting for me to leave so you can go back to scheming, or whatever it is you do when I'm not around. ( Mumbled against her temple, then her cheek. )

Sick of you. [ Nami echoes with a dubious chuckle, pointedly neither agreeing nor disagreeing. Her reign of terror continues as she purposefully stays relaxed and slightly floppy as she's gathered, purely to be a pain in the ass, but when their eyes finally meet, Nami can't keep that front up any longer. Her expression softens into an easy smile as the brush of his lips against her temple makes her eyes flutter closed. ]

You're right. [ She says, tucking her chin down as she turns her head, so she can kiss his jaw. ] I'm lovesick. [ Despite the tenderness hanging on every moment, Nami's still fairly sure owning her emotions is eventually going to make her heart pound so hard it simply bursts, even if every word is true, she can't speak them without a persistent prickle of worry tightening her chest. ] And when you're away from me, it just gets worse; like all the love I have for you has nowhere to go, so it twists itself up in knots, instead.
